    Creek Falls Closed

Well, I just heard from another board that I post on ...anyone that might wheel there. They have blocked off the entrances to this trail and have closed it down!!

It was only a matter of time.

That's what happens when people don't respect the land they wheel on.

Sad, it was one of the places we had planned to look at for the Spring Training event. I guess that knocks that off the list. It is a shame.

Once again, if people would only respect the land these things wouldn't be happening!

In some ways I'm glad. It sucks that we lost another place to wheel but that place was getting too trashed. The graffiti on the waterfall was painful to see. Garbage was everywhere. People vandalized the historic foundations in the woods (thanks God they never found the old graves.) The area can get some time to heal. Hopefully they still let hikers go through.

Well I spent the day trying to resolve this... I've been using some of my contacts and it looks like I'll be able to get the contact information for the people in charge of the hunting club that owns most of that property. I've been told by one of the members that odds are we won't be able to change their minds, but it might be possible under some circumstances... Apparently their biggest concern is the litter, graffiti, and cars in the stream.

Would anyone be interested in heading up talks for this? I don't think a teenager would really fit the part...

The graffiti and cars have been a problem for years. I was born, raised, and live 10 minutes from Creek Falls. Word on the street is that the hunting club will be offering memberships to get into the area, I'll post more as I hear about it.

yup we all said it was only a matter of time for things to change there.....that area has bin wheeled for way over 80 years....that club has bin tryin for the last couple years to close the road cuz they have bin vandalize more than once. I met the grandson of the owner of the land around the falls and he said his grandpap was never gonna let the game comish have it... but when it comes to the eviromentalist they have power to do what they wants. The place has bin abused for years. The road that runs threw there is a township road... I have bin to the township buildin and talked to them about it befor.... they told me the road had bin abanded a long time ago and the game comish was tryin to buy the rite away. So maybe they finally sold it to them. I bet the locals are bummed cuz they went there every weekend... there used to be a time when only they went there and it was a dumpin ground for stolen cars... since the off road movement has all these different clubs from all over havin runs there it has brought alot more attention to it.
I work to wheel, so if I can't wheel then I don't need to work.........

The sad part is the people who were bad to the area will still be getting back there. There's other ways in. Most of the trash at the falls came from teenagers partying at the falls, most of which walked back on the railroad tracks.

I think even if they do plan to charge admission, to talk to them about the clubs cleaning up the area ...they might help to discount a bit or ease their minds or what not. I only got to wheel there once and it was snowing I'd really like to go see the falls again!

After talking to a member of the club I doubt they have any sort of admission in mind. He said the entire club was unanimously very firm about this decision, and club members are not even going to be allowed to drive back there.

Eh, Tim...that sucks. I saw the PQ4x4 had mentioned the admission, it seemed hopeful. You are still allowed to walk back there though? Or have they disallowed any trespassing at all?

I used to go there a few years back. We called it Blue Hole or something. It was amazing how much broken glass and junk was there. I wonder if we can make a deal with the hunting club to haul out some of the junk or do a cleanup in exchange for allowing us to use it?

I have sent a few emails to the game commission to see if they know anything about the land. There have not been any press releases or meeting minutes about the GC buying any land and although I don't know exactly where the trails are, the falls are not within the SGL boarders.

Edit: That is odd, I didn't change the letter color. I fixed it.
