New Rules Proposed for Camping on BLM Lands in Colorado

The BLM is proposing to extend the time and distance campers must move between stays on public lands in Colorado.

The BLM is proposing to change the rules related to camping on public lands in Colorado.  The proposed rules would extend the distance and time period campers must move between stays at a particular location.  The distance would be extended from the current 3 miles to 30 miles and the time period extended from the current 7 days to 30 days.  The maximum length of stay at a location would remain 14 days.

The BLM is accepting public comments on the proposed rules until March 7, 2008.
