| Mack Mountain (King Mountain, FT98)The trail includes some narrow, steep switchbacks at both ends, with some rocky and/or off camber sections in between. At 3.3 miles from the west end, straight ahead is a very short spur with little room to turn around. Turn right (south) to follow the main trail. The King Creek trail joins this trail from the south at 4.1 miles from the west end. : From the junction of US 395 and US 20 just across the bridge west of Kettle Falls, take US 395 north for 5.9 miles. Turn left (west) on CR 460 (Deadman Creek Road). Reset your odometer here. At 0.6 miles, bear right. At 4.0 miles, bear left. At 6.4 miles, turn left over the bridge. At 8.75 miles, you will pass the Hoodoo Canyon trailhead. This large meadow is a good place to park tow rigs and trailers. At 11.2 miles, turn right on FR 520. At 11.9 miles, bear left. The road becomes rougher here. Watch your speed as you hit the many large water bars from here to the trail. The trail starts at 13.7 miles, after following the road around the edge of a small meadow.
: From the junction of US 395 and US 20 just across the bridge west of Kettle Falls, take US 20 west for 18.4 miles. Turn right (north) on FR 2030 (Albian Hill Road) and go 4.8 miles. The obvious Twin Sisters trail goes northeast, while the less obvious Mack Mountain trail goes southeast from here.
via 2WD roads: After exiting the trail, turn left (south) on FR 2030 (Albian Hill Road) and go 1.1 miles. Turn left (east) on FR 9565 (Deadman Creek Road) and go 6.2 miles. Turn left (north) on FR 520 and follow the directions above. Mack Mountain Trail - NWJeepn [details] |
